The Cricket Club is based on the Village Recreation Ground in the centre of Pluckley (Kent), the most haunted village in England.
It's a classic ground, within the sound of the church bells and with a gateway straight in to the back of the pub for those after-match discussions.
We have been running for many years, albeit with a brief lull between the late sixties and our reformation in 1976. We have competed, or at least played, in the Kent Village League since 1977, winning promotion twice and occasionally the wooden spoon.
We run both a Saturday team and a Sunday team, with a mixture of league and friendly cricket played on both days; like most teams are always on the lookout for new tallent.
Exciting Times Ahead
In 2007 Pluckley achieved 5th place in the (Sunday) Kent Village League 4th Division (of 7) for the second year running and hope for better things in 2008 with the promise of a strengthened squad.
2008 will see our second season in the (Saturday) Kent Feeder League (East) and anticipate doing much better than our wooden spoon in 2007.
The new Pavilion is fundamentally complete, with merely painting, decorating and "accessorising" to do, albeit some further funds are required to balance the books.
